Steve Plant – steveplant10@hotmail.com

Steve Plant has been involved with tennis since the age of 6. He was a junior player for Herefordshire & Worcestershire up until the age of 15 and began getting involved with coaching during his teenage years.
However, taking a break from playing and coaching tennis at age 18, Steve focused on Officiating as a Line Umpire and Chair Umpire. Steve has worked at the Wimbledon Championships as a Line Official from 2004 and continues to work at the highest level of events as a Line Umpire and Match Assistant.
Steve made a big change in his life in 2019, when he left his full-time civil service job and became a full-time tennis coach based primarily in Harrogate Spa but also at other venues around the Harrogate area.
In 2021, Steve passed the Referee course and started running regular tournaments at Harrogate Spa Tennis Centre. Steve has now progressed to be a National Level Referee and is often involved in the highest-level junior events in the country.
Steve took on the voluntary role of Yorkshire Tennis Competition Coordinator in Spring 2023 at a time of vast changes in both Yorkshire Tennis and the Competition landscape. Steve has overseen changes to the Yorkshire County Championships, the Yorkshire League and the LTA Youth Leagues with different volunteers helping alter and improve these events.
Steve’s focus from his vast experience is increasing the Grade 5 and 6 competition landscape across Yorkshire and is always looking for new individuals to engage with him in running events at their club and should be the first point of contact if you are keen to run events at your club or seek out advice about Officiating in general.
